Co-Founder, Community Investor40 Acres Investments Jul 2020 - PresentOur organization was founded with the mission of acquiring, maintaining, and utilizing properties and land to create new generational opportunities for both our community and family. The name "40 Acres" originates from the 1865 field order, which was implemented to redistribute approximately 400,000 acres of land to newly freed Black families in forty-acre segments. This order initially provided for the settlement of around 40,000 freed people, but was short-lived and overturned after the civil war ended. Most of the designated land was returned to the original owners, leaving the newly freed people without the promised land or even a home. As an organization, we are actively working towards fulfilling a small portion of the original intention of the order by impacting our community's and Black family's financial trajectory through creating generational wealth, one strategic investment at a time.
