    Being an important part of this company's growth, by hiring and training staff for three franchise locations, required me to manage and schedule from 5 to 15 people for 2 daily shifts Their training involved customer service, preparation of proprietary foods and comprehensive cleaning/closing tasks.I reviewed monthly profit/loss statements to monitor inventory levels, to make decisions regarding payroll and to advise the owner about priorities in fund allocation for variable expenses. After reviewing and organizing all business documents, I provided information to the accountant to generate a monthly report. The owner and I met weekly for updates to limit discrepancies. Upon receipt of the monthly reports, I would reconcile payables, refunds and suspense accounts. Building and maintaining relationships through customer service was achieved through a welcoming greeting and accurate order processing. My great relationships with vendors ensured that we received superior service thus benefiting our customers also. I achieved a high employee & customer retention rate by viewing every task that I was assigned as a service opportunity!

    I was required to adhere to very strict guidelines & deadlines for every task accomplished as this position is part of the federally funded "Click-it-or-Ticket" program administrated through the Florida Department of Transportation. Executing customer relations skills was paramount as the purpose of the grant was based on Minority Outreach. I was responsible for producing monthly reports submitted to FDOT pertaining to payables to IPTM for program administration, payables for travel expenses for Outreach Committee Members and all payables necessary to assist the Public Information Liaison. My assistance, both clerical & managerial, enabled the Liaison to complete press releases, initiate signage programs, conduct informational rallies and oversee media buys. I relied on my excellent communication & organizational skills when I assisted the Director during the planning and execution of an off-site, 3-day conference attended by 300 minority community leaders. These leaders were located throughout Florida and I was tasked with all of the travel arrangements for the Program Director, Committee Members & myself for the monthly meetings in Tampa during the 6 month planning process and ultimately the conference. I was acknowledged by both FDOT & the Minority Outreach Committee members for my work on this project by receiving 2 awards at the closing ceremony dinner. I was allowed to independently arrange my daily tasks as most of my work was project centered. I began at IPTM as an assistant to the registrar. I used the flexibility of my grant position to periodically complete assignments, as requested by management, for the registrar. I processed course transactions, cancellations, and transfers which required prior training but, after starting the grant assignment, my skills were only needed during overflow periods.

    This national mail order company's products were marketed to industry professionals, schools and community organizations. I was not only responsible for the daily funds received as payment for product shipments but also ongoing organization & collection of payments for in-house accounts. As a large majority of the customer base paid with public funds, I had to be very diligent. I had intimate dealings with the sales & shipping departments because if precise procedures were not followed during the customer's procurement then payment would be inevitably delayed. My job duties represented the final step of the transaction but I developed an appreciation for a company's internal communication. Using skills from my background in customer service, I viewed everyone who affected the process as a service opportunity for me. Through my keen interest shown for orders throughout the process, I kept receivables at manageable levels which produced the profits that management was beholden to drive.
