As the lead of the Innovation Design Team at Dementia Australia, I combine my passion for design with my expertise in healthcare to create innovative solutions for people impacted by dementia.I apply a human-centered design framework to every project, emphasizing empathy and a deep understanding of the needs and real-life experiences of people impacted by dementia. My team and I prioritize the needs of end-users in every design decision, leveraging evidence-based research and feedback from the dementia community to inform our approach. By involving stakeholders in the design process and prioritizing their needs, I ensure that our products and services are effective, user-friendly, and meet the needs of the end-users.My unique perspective as a Cognition Clinical Nurse Consultant informs my work as a design strategist. With a strong background in cognitive assessment gained from working in the Cognitive Dementia and Memory Service, acute care, and community settings, I understand the complexities of dementia and its impact on people's lives.Drawing on my clinical experience, I apply design thinking to identify and solve complex problems. I use cutting-edge technologies such as virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and digital applications to create engaging and immersive products and resources that help users better understand the impact of dementia.Under my guidance and leadership, the Innovation Design Team has produced a range of award-winning products and services that have been rigorously evaluated and shown to have a positive impact on people living with dementia, their families, and caregivers. I work closely with universities and researchers to conduct formal evaluations and ensure that our solutions are based on the latest scientific evidence. My unwavering commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those impacted by dementia motivates me to continually explore new possibilities and push the boundaries of technology and innovation while always ensuring that our work is grounded in the latest research.
