A member of the senior management team for this outdoor swimming pool open May to September. Whilst at ab Agri I worked weekends however after finishing placement I worked full time at the swimming pool for the summer, until I returned to university in the September.

Ab Agri (6 months; Jan- June 2016, as part of BPEX Scholarship) -Based between the nutrition team and pig customer support for ABN monogastric business. -Worked along side the nutritionist and other copnies within ab Agri; Primary Diets, Mills and had the chance to visit other companies: Rattlerow and TVC-Able to be involved with lots of trial work, one trial of which will go towards my final year dissertation-Skills developed: Problem solving, attention to detail, report writing, confidence, communication skills, data handling and analysis, organizational combined with project management.

Day to day task on 750 closed breeding herd pig farm, seeing how each department was run (farrowing house, serving house, weaners and growers) Whilst at Ermine farms I was involved with every aspect of pig production from basic husbandry and care to technical advances which enable a more efficient farm improving pig production performance, whilst there I undertwo my Level 2 Pig Stockmanship qualifications. A few key skills specific to the job include: correct way of handling and moving pigs, injecting pigs (Vaccinating and giving medication), AI (artificial insemination) of pigs, teeth clipping, tail docking, pressure washing, the importance of biosecurity, tractor driving, the use of NEDAP feed system along with the safe use of veterinary medicines. Further transferable skills developed involve: teamwork, effective communication, thoroughness, working under pressure, initiative, attention to detail and vigilance.

Tesco: Customer Assistant/ Deli Assistant: (2012 – 2015) Worked for the company in my year out (2012-2013) and then returned in the university holidays when I was needed. I was able to work on many departments from the deli which requried special training to fresh produce, bakery, grocery, fresh and checkouts. Skills developed: Money handling, importance of quality of products, customer care and relations, communication skills, punctuality, responsibility and following instruction.

Skills developed: Self-motivation, optimism to boost morale, mediator between staff and customers, vigilance, communication skills, organizational skills, working outside my comfort zone, team work, and patience combined with being specific with instructions.
