I've worked in nearly every facet of law enforcement up to and including my last position as Sergeant. My assignments included serving initially as a patrol officer where, in addition to the typical patrol duties, I was tasked with the reconstruction of fatal traffic crashes, as well as initiating the Knoxville Police Department's first criminal interdiction unit, tasked with the interdiction of interstate criminals. Subsequently, I was assigned to the Organized Crime Unit of the KPD where I initiated numerous narcotic cases for prosecution in the Eastern District of Tennessee Federal Court. During my tenure within the Organized Crime Unit, I initiated over 70 high level drug cases, working closely with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Agency, and the Internal Revenue Service. Those cases involved the prosecution of multi kilogram cocaine sales, Title 3 telephone intercepts on several defendants, and the seizure of several million dollars in cash and other narcotic related assets. During my tenure in the Organized Crime Unit, I was promoted to Sergeant and assigned to lead and supervise a patrol squad of 11 Police Officers. My responsibilities included identifying criminal trends and community problems and directing Police assets so as to provide solutions and relief to those problems.
