Over 20 years’ experience in development, implementation, evaluation and review of policies, programs and plans regarding culture and heritage, community development and Aboriginal affairs. Was previously employed in the Country, Culture and Heritage Division in the Office of Environment and Heritage, Department of Premier and Cabinet (NSW) with over 7 years experience at the senior director level in the NSW Government delivering both state and Commonwealth initiatives. Extensive experience in managing portfolios, personnel and budgets with strong leadership, communication, project management and relationship building skills at the community, State and Commonwealth levels. Was responsible for managing the Aboriginal affairs and Cultural Heritage Operations portfolios on behalf of the Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH).Successfully implemented a number of significant and strategic state wide initiatives including the review, re-design and implementation of Aboriginal heritage programs, policies and operational guidelines resulting in a significant increase in the delivery of outcomes in a more efficient and effective way . Developed, in partnership with Aboriginal communities, the NSW Strengthening Aboriginal Community Wellbeing Toolkit – a community based self-assessment, prioritisation and planning tool, and published and contributed to papers on strengthening Aboriginal community wellbeing. Coordinated, on behalf of the NSW government, the statewide review and legislative reform process in relation to the development of standalone Aboriginal cultural heritage legislation in NSW. Has provided support and advice to, and has been a NSW government and agency representative for, a number of state and Commonwealth government committees and interagency working groups. Is currently focussed on delivering sustainable results through effective communication and development of partnerships with, and between, communities, government and private sectors.
