As the 10-12 grade Technology, Computer and Journalism instructor, my teaching load encompassed a much wider variety of curriculum than a traditional high school. I wrote all the curriculum from scratch. Topics included: Animation (Flash, 3D Studio Max, Maya 3D), Webmastering (Dreamweaver), Nonlinear Video Editing (Final Cut Pro HD, After Effects), Audio Production (Reason, Audition, ProTools, Ableton Live, Garageband, Fruity Loops, etc), BCIS (Microsoft Office Pro, including Access, Visio, Project + Powerpoint, Excel, Word), Newspaper (writing, prepress, design principles, InDesign, Word), Yearbook (Dreamweaver, Weblogging, HTML), Computer Maintenance Technology (build a PC from the ground up, using a multimeter, etc) — there were over 20 classes total. I have both broad and deep mastery of many fields, applications, and business processes, and am constantly learning. I acquired 500+ CEUs since becoming an educator in 2003, over 300 of them since coming to Garza.I will always consider my experience as an educator at Garza to be one of (perhaps THE) most fulfilling, interesting, exhausting and rewarding experiences of my life. This incredibly innovative high school, under the guidance of founding Principal Vicky Baldwin, is the ONLY public (or private) school that gets it right. I am working on several projects using advanced project management/development techniques and cutting-edge development models. I was the Project Manager and designer, as well as narrator and Flash programmer for an education-specific software product that covers the entire curriculum / TEKS for Technology requirements for the State of Texas, and is completely 508-compliant in accessibility standards. The product was the first of its kind adopted by the TEA and was expected to be released to the market Fall 2004.

As Visual Designer for the Internet Business Solutions Group, a sub-group of the Financial Services practice of KPMG Consulting, I was responsible for a wide variety of software development- and design-related tasks. In addition to design activities (prototyping, wireframing, visual/UI design, usability testing and design) I was technically engaged in testing, programming and scripting (html, xml, xsl, xhtml, UML and Javascript), animation (Flash), graphics standards creation and requirements-gathering (design briefs, client interaction). I worked successfully on several projects using XP and UML project management/development techniques.Clients included the following corporations: eBondTrade, LSQ, Morgan Stanley, Visa, Deutsche Bank, Clariden, KPMG LLP, JP Morgan, and more. I maintained 97% chargeability or better consistently.

Design/production for advertising and marketing communications for print and web. Accounts included Widmer Brewing Company, Nicholas|Applegate, GardenBurger, Apple, Microsoft, Disney, Mitsubishi, Epitope and Intersolv. My primary focus was as a high-end Photoshop expert, with additional duties in new media, primarily graphics preparation (banners, animated GIFs, browser safe artwork etc.), HTML programming and generating .pdf files for client approvals via ftp. Left when company was bought by US Web.

High-end color retouching; film/proof output using Mac, Agfa Selectset 5000, 7000, Scitex StarPS workstation, Dolev and IRIS; quality control; film compositing; IRIS output and customer education/service. My supervisor was the justifiably famous Mr. Darrel Plant, of Shockwave fame.

Responsibilities included assisting VP of Sales and Marketing and Marketing Director in planning and execution of advertising and promotional materials; creating and maintaining weekly, monthly and yearly production schedules of all marketing design projects; distributing work orders, assigning projects, designating completion dates, compiling reports relating to workflow; supervision, scheduling and coordination marketing designer's daily workflow and tracking individual productivity; preparing written evaluations and reviewing marketing designers' performance; reviewing and approving work; performing overflow design duties; establishing design guidelines; conducting hardware and software training workshops on a regular basis and assisting other technical personnel (including service bureau) with troubleshooting hardware and software-related issues. Also conducted R& D and feasibility reports on multimedia expansion.

I was head of the Prepress department at Winslow, a commercial printer (approx. 115 employees), with 30 employees under my direct supervision. I trained highly skilled traditional lithographers in all aspects of computer-based prepress. I was responsible for state-of-the-art equipment purchasing and training, as well as implementing appropriate job-tracking and standard operating procedures for the department.

I worked exclusively on the Apple Computer account as a freelance graphic artist. Major projects included the Small Business Sales System (SBSS), wherein a complete system (including multimedia and printed materials) was created to aid VARs in selling Macintosh products to vertical markets. Every application then available was leveraged to produce the guides, and extensive expertise was required in order to produce the materials for this project.
