Kelly currently works as a Public Affairs Specialist for the Frederick County Government in Frederick, Maryland, serving in the Office of the County Executive. She recently worked as a Digital Media Specialist as part of the media/marketing team at an independently-owned private business in Frederick, Maryland. Kelly's work included management of social and web media channels and the development of communications strategies for improved business/organization outcomes. Kelly has also recently worked with a small, grassroots nonprofit organization dedicated to literacy and education programming, as its Media and Outreach Director for Summer Programs. Kelly received her Master's of Science degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from West Virginia University at the end of 2016. While attending graduate school, Kelly completed a fellowship with the National Park Service, working in digital media for parks, including web, social and mobile media. While in school, Kelly also worked with a boutique Public Relations firm, that focuses on economic development and local business clientele. Following graduation, Kelly chose to shift gears and get hands-on experience working with underresourced children. Kelly served as an interim Head Start Teacher at a public school in Jefferson County, West Virginia, before ultimately returning to her field. Kelly Cambrel is also an award-winning Reporter and Editorial Assistant, formerly working as half of a two-woman editorial team at a longstanding weekly community news publication, based in the greater Washington DC, Metro Area.Kelly’s skills include writing & editing for print, web, television, and radio; blogging; social media marketing; web development; photography; video/audio production & editing; and graphic design.Kelly's passions continue to be emerging media and technology, public service and community building.
