FEAS is one of 6 service groups within the Marine Institute and consists of over 100 scientific and technical, post graduate and administrative staff. The FEAS mission is to assess, research and advise on the sustainable exploitation of the marine fisheries resource, to advance our understanding of marine ecosystems, and to carry out research on sustainable marine aquaculture. The services provided by FEAS are focused on scientific support to key marine policy areas such as the Common Fisheries Policy, the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD), NATURA 2000 and sustainable marine Aquaculture. FEAS also undertake a wide range of research focused on ecosystem understanding that will inform the advisory needs of the future.
