About Kelly Davina Scott

With a background in human rights, international affairs, international law, and political science, I bring a unique perspective to BSR’s work with consumer sector companies on social performance issues. I support companies across all sectors in developing human rights, DEI and sustainability strategies.Prior to joining BSR, I worked as a Child Rights and Business Specialist at Unicef UK, where I managed a nominated portfolio of Unicef UK partners (governments, business and civil society) to coordinate efforts to achieve effective change in UK business policy and practice (particularly in operations and supply chains) which supports children’s rights, in the realm of health, education and environment. Developed and implemented a diverse range of opportunities to raise awareness of the Children’s Rights and Business Principles and their effective integration amongst the UK private sector, civil society and government departments.I also spent 6 years at the Institute for Human Rights and Business, where I managed the Institute for Human Rights and Business (IHRB) Kenya –based program on human rights due diligence in the extractive sector in East Africa, including leading outreach and engagement, formulating and implementing advocacy strategies and fundraising. Worked with governments, companies and civil society organizations to successfully launch and lead IHRB’s project: The Nairobi Process: A Pact for Responsible Business, which aimed to embed human rights due diligence in East Africa’s extractive sector. Laid the groundwork in field offices in the inception phases of various projects to smooth delivery alongside capacity building of teams and partners. I hold an M.A. in International Studies and Diplomacy and an LLM in International Law from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) University of London and a B.Sc. in International Relations with a minor in Political Science from the University of the West Indies in Jamaica.
