I grew and learned most about myself while at SJRK. It is an organization that will forever be close to my heart. I started as a part-time Outreach Coordinator. I wanted to see if I could do this type of work. Over four years later, I grew our outreach program to include many events and initiatives to bring awareness within the community. I started as a part-time Outreach Coordinator. I wanted to see if I could do this type of work. Over four years later, I grew our outreach program to include many events and initiatives to bring awareness within the community. The volunteer program was strong, as was support within the community. Accomplishments:- Co-wrote a guidebook, "Get Your Feet Wet"- Created a young professionals group, "Rising Tides"- Created and managed our Facebook page, which was at 4,000 likes at the time of my departure.- Managed 2 day boat trips for around 100 passengers, twice a year. This included budget, advertising, making customers feel prepared and comfortable and managing staff. - Managed fundraisers throughout the community to forage relationships with local businesses. - Hosted & appeared numerous times on St. Johns Riverkeeper public access cable show- Assisted UNF Biology Professor with estuarine research and participated in an endangered snailexpedition to list a species.- Florida Master Naturalist- Opening speaker for Florida Trails Association Conference, 2011- So much more I can not even think of it! The Natural Sciences collection included about 100 live animals and 1,000's of non-living creatures to manage. I cataloged the non-living collection in preparation for accreditation. Daily, I attended to the living animals. I managed part-time employees, interns, and volunteers to keep a daily schedule for the care of the animals. Manuals for caring for collection and emergency plans were written to prepare future staff.
