I have worked in the field of substance use disorder and particularly opioids since 2005. My research portfolio spans mechanism-based studies in animals and human subjects to evaluations of healthcare system-delivery and epidemiological studies. I have experience conducting human laboratory trials examining opioid-based effects in healthy individuals and persons with clinical conditions with a primary focus on human abuse potential (HAP) designs as well as phase II and III trials. I also have extensive experience in randomized controlled trial evaluation of new medications for substance use disorders that include opioids, alcohol, and tobacco. I conduct work consistent with FDA good clinical practice guidelines and have extensive experience with the regulatory management (including IND development and maintenance) of studies examining novel compounds.
