• 2009 - Trained Lake Oswego staff to complete a comprehensive (scope 1, 2 and 3) greenhouse gas inventory (carbon footprint) of city operations (including embodied emissions in purchased goods); Lake Oswego staff was able to replicate the process independently the following year. • 2011 - Conducted a consumption-based community greenhouse gas inventory of citizen and business activities to illustrate how Lake Oswego is similar to and different from the greater Portland Metro region, using best practices in advance of community protocol development. Presented results to Comprehensive Plan Citizen Advisory Committee, Sustainability Advisory Board and City Council. Explicitly mapped how inventory results directly or indirectly related to multiple city plans including: Community Vision Statement, Transportation System Plan, Sustainability Plan, Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan and the development of a Sustainability Advisory Board.

As a sustainability consultant for Good Company I worked on three projects with EWEB during this time:Global Reporting Initiative Reporting Program Support (2008-2011)• Collected data, analyzed performance, and wrote public performance reports using the Global Reporting Initiative protocol for three years. In the first year, tracked comprehensive performance on more than 140 indicators. Held focus groups with more than 80 employees, 12 Sustainability Action Team members, and the six core members of the executive team to implement this system and prioritize sustainability indicators for ongoing management. Future reports focused on 53 core metrics material to EWEB's operations.Healthy Farms Clean Water Program Support (2005-2010)• Interviewed 39 local food retailers and institutional food buyers to scale the opportunity for buying McKenzie watershed-grown products as a way to protect drinking water in the McKenzie River; identified and prioritized short- and long-term barriers to buying locally grown products. • Partnered with Ecotrust (Portland, OR) to develop and deploy an online matchmaking service and transaction hub (food-hub.org) to address these barriers and increase the market for locally grown food; launched food-hub.org in Eugene by managing outreach to more than 2,000 food buyers and training more than 55 local food buyers and growers to build the market; currently more than 6,000 members use Food Hub. GreenPower Program Support (2007-2008)• Developed a marketing strategy to promote EWEB's Greenpower program to event planners in the Eugene area; built a database of 38 most likely customers; conducted in-depth interviews with Eugene's 4 largest hotel/conference spaces to identify barriers; developed implementation plan to provide training and grow sales of renewable energy credits to short-term events.

Orange County, California Area

• Developed Orange County Transit Authority’s greenhouse gas emissions inventory and climate action plan including emissions related to buildings, operations, vehicles, transit fleets and waste management. Provided additional innovative emissions calculations related to employee commute, business air travel, supply chain purchases from fleet fuel (well-to-tank), operations (vehicles) and capital projects, transit access trips (rail stations, park-and-rides), benefits of onsite renewable energy generation, and benefits of mode shift to transit considering congestion relief and land use as recommended by the American Public Transportation Association’s Climate Working Group.This inventory served as a benchmark for OCTA to measure the benefits of current and future policies/ programs implemented to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

• Staffed a public-private partnership to reduce particulate emissions in an environmental justice area to offset increased pollution loading from I-5 expansion; collected voluntary commitments from 32 private sector fleet managers to reduce particulate emissions from short- and long-haul trucking fleets through the use of cleaner fuels, control devices, and fuel efficiency projects in advance of national mandates. • Project sponsored by Oregon Governor's Office, Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), and the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).

• Measured baseline sustainability performance of a 40-store quick service restaurant chain. Created executive dashboard and identified recommendations for improving energy, greenhouse gas emissions, water, and waste impacts as well as overall sustainability program governance; recommendations were incorporated into long-range sustainability action plan and authentic branding and communications plan.
