I attribute my passion for STEM to my Philadelphia beginnings. Early on in high school, I had my first research position as an apprentice at a robotics lab at University of Pennsylvania. I implemented Python and knowledge of neural networks to program the arms of a humanoid robot. In my senior year of high school, I worked with a professor at Penn Medicine to conduct surveys and data analysis for a research paper about Rehabilitation for Stroke Survivors. Now that I’ve worked as a lab assistant at a Physics/Biomedical Lab at Penn, I’ve worked in a nanofabrication cleanroom to fabricate Field Effect Transistors. As a laboratory assistant, I collaborate with Ph.D. and graduate students with nanomaterial fabrication and applications and collect data from graphene experiments for biosensing HIV and vapor-sensing prostate cancer research publications. I'm looking to represent latinx STEM pre-professionals in research or industry jobs that are open to implementing my experiences in research collaborations and computer science.

Laboratory Research AssistantUniversity Of Pennsylvania Sep 2021 - Jun 2022Philadelphia, Pa, UsI work in nanofabrication, particularly graphene and carbon nanotubes, and I assist in collecting data for vapor sensing and RNA-sensing experiments. -
FellowBraven Sep 2021 - Dec 2021Chicago, Il, UsAs a Braven Fellow, I was able to learn from high-achieving individuals from all kinds of industries for professional development. I was able to connect with people from Microsoft along with different law firms, tech and education industries to learn how to create great cover letters, resumes, and networking skills. -
Co-Coordinator For Girls Leading In Science And TechnologyGlist Aug 2020 - Aug 2020I volunteered at GLIST, founded by my peer at Penn with a mission to bring Computer Science to inner city middle school girls in Philadelphia. I helped design curriculums and lesson plans for our 2 week intensive Python coding camp that was held virtually for the summer of 2020.

Research AssistantUniversity Of Pennsylvania Sep 2019 - Jun 2020Philadelphia, Pa, UsI worked with Dr. Michelle Johnson at UPenn's Rittenhouse Robotics laboratory to learn about designing an escape room around people who have had strokes. I was able to create surveys with which I handed out to colleagues and classmates to gauge what movements and tasks were most common and difficult for normally-abled people. I then compiled the data via Google Sheets and used this data to inform what gamified rehabilitation could look like for ischemic stroke patients. -
Research AssistantAeop Apprenticeships & Fellowships Jun 2019 - Aug 2019I worked at UPenn's GRASP Lab with Dr. Kostas Daniilidis and was mentored by Ph.D. students to learn about computer vision and goal-oriented programming. I first learned Python through this opportunity and by the end, I was able to implement my code into humanoid robot called BAXTER to move its two arms around an enclosed bin area. I was first introduced to deep neural networks and AI learning through working with UPenn Engineering's GRASP Lab, which led me into my current love of the intersection between computer science and biology.
