My passion for public service has led me on a unique career path encompassing retail sales, school teaching and operations management and program administration at a correctional facility. My service orientation stems from my desire to give a voice to people in marginalized communities as well as facilitate education and well-being among vulnerable and underserved populations. In my current position as Assistant Warden at George H. Hill Correctional Facility, I am inspired by working one-on-one with our clients, and I continuously strive to rehabilitate and engender hope by developing the necessary process improvements to affect change.Ultimately, my earlier experience in sales and teaching gave me the skill sets needed to mediate conflict and resolve the challenges that are inherent in my role providing operational oversight to more than 1,800 inmates. While I oversee every aspect of the facility, including security, programming and staffing, I also provide administrative leadership to evaluate and improve programming, which entails education, reentry, wellness, vocation, mental and behavioral health. As a former Division One athlete and part-time triathlete, I learned early on how to lead a team. It is amazing what you can uncover by simply listening more closely. Central to my success in the highly regulated industry in which I work is the ability to collaborate with support functions and peers to develop comprehensive solutions, tools and processes that facilitate efficiency. Through my leadership roles, I have honed both strategic and tactical capabilities as well as my ability to ensure timely integration of organizational initiatives. In addition to outstanding project management skills and a genuine desire to drive engagement, I can be counted on to lead with integrity and diplomacy.In short, I have been fortunate that my roles have allowed me to provide thoughtful leadership. I genuinely enjoy building teams at all levels and have a talent for developing and sustaining key relationships.
