Led CHAI’s process chemistry work in the CHAI laboratory focused on a new TB prevention prodrug and on optimizing process chemistry of antiretroviral active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). Led CHAI’s efforts on product quality, ensuring high quality products, including PPE, oxygen suppliers, vector control products and medicines, were purchased or recommended by CHAINegotiated and executed contracts for external cGMP quality audits. Completed cGMP gap analyses of API and finished dosage formulation (FDF) manufacturers in India, Ethiopia, and Kenya. Provided global sourcing support for medical devices, medicines, APIs, and raw materials to ensure cost-effective, high-quality choices for CHAI’s partners. Tracked the cost and availability of APIs and raw materials through regular contacts with manufacturers, site visits and import data analysis. Calculated product cost of goods taking consideration the route of synthesis, the cost of inputs, and market demand to support price negotiations of products including new HIV, TB, SRH, COVID-19 products. Worked with and visited manufacturing sites in Argentina, Brazil, China, Ethiopia, India, Kenya, Nigeria, and Tanzania.
