Early in life I realized that I greatly enjoyed spending time with animals and developing a form of communication with them by studying & learning their non-verbal cues. Hours staring at my neighbors horses in the field gave a sense of freedom in watching their minute cues to each other that resulted in a daily dance of establishing hierarchy and a comforting order to their day. I have continued to study those cues in my own horses over the years, learning patience while discovering what they are telling me in their own way. Those opportunities have shown me that people have similar skillsets for developing non-verbal cues to subtly relay how they are receiving information and whether it is productive to them at the time. All of this heavily relates to Emotional Intelligence that is an invaluable skill in the current workplace. The lessons I have learned from my equine partners, along with discovering the benefits of Emotional Intelligence, now support my role as a Senior Underwriter and Marketing Specialist at Vermont League of Cities and Towns. I am skilled in team building, negotiation, customer satisfaction, coaching, mentoring and most importantly, a trusted confidant for friends & coworkers. I currently work with an amazing team ofprofessional coworkers supporting local municipal government. This offers unique challenges, but wonderful opportunities to utilize the skills I have mastered over the years. I look forward to the exciting challenges life has to offer both in the workforce and the dressage ring in upcoming years.
