About Kelly Mcmichael, Ed.D.
Having been engaged in public, private, and for-profit institutions, be they religious or not, I have developed a broad knowledge of how learning occurs and have observed the complexities of learning communities and have a deep commitment to learner-centered education. I have a particular commitment in seeing faith communities become highly participative, as opposed to relying solely on a church professional to speak the truth of God. This is seen quite clearly in the New Testament, particularly in I Corinthians 12-14. This squarely and carefully places spiritual engagement and leading in the hands of those who desire spiritual and emotional growth--providing a greater degree of learning, engagement, and breadth to the collective faith experience. As a trainer and educator, I also adhere to the late Malcomb Knowles' maxim that learning is a "process of guided interaction" in a "cooperative learning environment" where we evaluate the quality of the learning experience and the change and growth of the learner. Anything worth doing is worth evaluating. So, whether I work with individuals, groups of students or with larger groups, evaluating the value and effect of interaction is essential.
