I specialize in quantitative analysis and enjoy learning the techniques (programming, statistics, etc.) for extracting useful information from large datasets. My dream career is one in which I get to (1) do math and (2) learn something new every day to (3) solve interesting problems. I have a BS in Physics from Davidson College and an MS from Colorado State University in Atmospheric Science. At CSU, I worked as a Graduate Research Assistant where I analyzed rainfall and water vapor data from global passive microwave satellite imagery. In my position as a Scientific Programmer/Analyst at SGT, Inc. I deepened my programming skills in IDL, Perl, and bash as I supported NOAA/NESDIS/OSPO operational products. As an ESPDS contractor at NOAA, I maintained and implemented operational products including Coral Bleaching, SST contour charts, and SAR Coastal Winds. One project involved upgrading the 50 km Coral Bleaching software to process 5 km input data from polar-orbiting environmental satellites. In my position at Duke, I developed programs to batch-process 200+ NAIP images across Texas. I also wrote programs to process Landsat imagery over the same area. I also chose training data for a supervised classification of land cover type for the NAIP images. In this position, I gained experience with ENVI, ArcGIS, Python, and Windows Batch scripting. At Cengage, I work closely with my team to put end of chapter physics, math, and engineering questions into the WebAssign online homework assessment system. I help verify the accuracy of the questions and solutions in order to deliver the best experience for students. I am able to use my technical knowledge every day in this role (physics, math, perl, CSS, Mathematica).
Listed skills include Data Analysis, Research, Idl, Physics, and 19 others.

Wrote programs in IDL, ENVI, Python (for ArcGIS), and Windows Batch to bulk-process NAIP and Landsat data in support of a USDA-funded project examining drought-induced tree mortality across Texas.Co-registered, stacked, and classified land cover for over 200 1-meter resolution NAIP images.See more information about the project and the Swenson group.
Maintained operational NOAA/NESDIS products and implemented experimental products into operations. I accomplished these tasks via IDL programming and bash and Perl scripting. I upgraded the 50 km Coral Bleaching product suite to process 5 km input data.In addition to implementing new products, I monitored a handful of OSPO products (e.g., SST contour.
