Impetus Consulting Group is an ambitious group of consultants who believe in the power of collaboration to enhance the impact of not-for-profit organisations. Impetus brings together a group of multi-disciplinary, high potential students and young, backed up by an experienced advisory board, to deliver greater social return for non-profit entities. Impetus expanded their consulting program into the Impetus Academy, offering educational seminars to university students that introduces them to consulting and culminates in a final week case-competition pitch to a panel of business, entrepreneurial and consulting leaders. My role as President of the Committee is to continue the organisational restructures undertaken in 2014 and oversee the financial, governance and strategic responsibilities of the organisation. In 2015 we will be focusing on conducting strategic reviews and implementing processes to enhance the longevity and effectiveness of the organisation and improve the client and consultant experience.

My role as Managing Director was to take ultimate responsibility for the implementation of Impetus' organisational strategy in 2013-14. During this period Impetus delivered six successful projects to non-for-profit organisations, worked with 30 participants in the inaugural Impetus Academy and engaged 30 project consultants to deliver these projects. Impetus became an incorporated association, restructured and expanded its capacity by 100%. Through managing a team of six directors, and a team of 20 volunteers, I have facilitated the rapid growth of Impetus, which has included doubling our consulting engagements, the number of consultants taken on and expanding Impetus into the educational sphere. I have also facilitated the restructuring of Impetus from a student organisation into a non-for-profit incorporated association and developed the organisational structure to optimise on delivering an impactful result to our clients and a rewarding experience to our consultants.

The Shrine of Remembrance is the Victorian War Memorial that commemorates all Australians who have served in war. It is a major tourist destination, conducts commemorative services throughout the year for various ex-service organisations and other interest groups and with the addition of the Galleries of Remembrance, features a large chronological exhibition space to Australians in war and peace. The Shrine is visited by more than one million people per year, including military and diplomatic VIPs. My role as a Visitor Services Officer included reception, retail and administrative duties. As the initial point of contact with all visitors to the Shrine it is imperative I maintain a friendly and helpful disposition, catering to a variety of needs and patrons. I have interacted with ex-service organisation contacts to ensure the smooth operation of their ceremonies, assisted in the running of the online-shop and conducted stock counts. My administrative duties have enabled me to enhance my Microsoft Office and CRM skills. With this customer-facing role I have utilised consideration and adaptability to respond to diverse patron requests and assisted in the efficient operations of the front-of-house and administration. Some notable projects I have introduced throughout my tenure include a new process for recording the receipt of stock across rotating reception/retail staff and the improvement of the feedback process for ceremonial services.

Engage Education Foundation provides low-cost VCE seminars and materials to high-school students. I was responsible for forecasting and managing a $450,000 budget, maintaining the Foundation's accounting systems and managing weekly payrolls and financial transactions. I was also a member of the Board of Directors, responsible for reporting and advising on all financial matters.

Gilbert + Tobin is a leading, independent corporate law firm headquartered in Sydney, Australia, with offices in Melbourne and Perth. Working in the growing Melbourne office, I interned in the Banking and Finance practice group. Throughout this clerkship I conducted legal and commercial research on a variety of matters, drafted internal and external memorandums for senior lawyers and conducted company research focusing on debt and equity structuring and recent major projects. My major achievements include the drafting of a market flyer for business development in a regulated industry to be pitched to potential clients for financing purposes and the drafting of an internal memorandum on mining agreements for senior lawyers within the firm. I also improved the functionality of an internal Knowledge Management Memorandum, extending the scope of its usage and presented this to the Melbourne firm, including partners at a monthly meeting.

Corwall Stodart is a Melbourne-based, mid-tier commercial law firm. Throughout my clerkship I rotated through the Property & Finance and Commercial Litigation practice groups. Throughout this period I conducted research on a variety of matters including insolvency law, retail leasing and transfer of land and drafted multiple memorandums for partners and lawyers within the firm. My achievements during this clerkship include in the assistance of due diligence for an acquisition matter for a major client for the firm, the collation of summaries of recent insolvency cases that were presented to the Litigation Team meeting and emailed firm wide and the research and drafting of a memorandum regarding body corporate rules that was presented at the Property Team meeting.

A global engineering company, Sinclair Knight Mertz is now Jacobs Engineering Group. Working in the Legal Team I was responsible for conducting reviews on commercial contracts and liaising with internal clients regarding contracts and amendments to meet their needs in the South-East Australian Division.My major achievements through this period was the successful drafting and negotiation of amendments to numerous commercial contracts, particularly in relation to liability, project scope and payment terms and the compilation of legal research regarding economic sanctions from USA, UN, EU, UK and Australia and how these could affect SKM's global operations, which in turn became part of SKM's risk management procedures.
