In my role as Lead Teacher, I am responsible for the development, facilitation, and evaluation of thematic educational plans and classroom activities for 9th and 10th grade students. I utilize assessment tools to determine the success of current teaching methods and identify strategies to improve instructional techniques. In addition to my day-to-day teaching duties, I serve as team lead and mentor teacher to a University of Houston student-teacher, three first-year teachers, and multiple veteran teachers. I direct data-driven planning meetings with my team to foster alignment, engage in critical reflection, and identify classroom best practices. One of my most notable accomplishment to date was being selected by school administration to act as “Model Teacher” for all Dulles High School educators. During this assignment, I provided various learning and training experiences, including mentorship and job shadowing, for struggling teachers as part of their performance improvement plans.

In this role, I partnered with fellow teachers, specialist, and school administrators to implement customized learning plans to support over 150 on-level, special education, disabled, and English as a Second Language students. I participated in formal and informal personal evaluation, reflection, and performance improvement, including 300 hours of professional development courses. My outstanding performance in this position earned me recognition as “Rookie Teacher of the Year.”

I offered customized one-on-one and group tutoring sessions to undergraduate and graduate students to improve their personal and major-specific writing skills. I conducted detailed knowledge assessments to identify skill gaps and design targeted curriculum to address each student’s learning needs.
