Research Aide in Department of Epidemiology. Conducted statistical analysis of the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) study data using Stata. Developed generalized estimating equations (GEE) models with quadratic splines, inverse probability attrition weights, and stratification of participants to search for evidence of causation between several different variables and dementia. Used inverse probability attrition weights (IPAWs) and additional sensitivity analysis to address selective loss (for example, participants lost to follow-up and later hospitalized with a diagnosis of dementia) and self-reported information. Assessed model fit based on Bayesian Information Criterion (BIC), Akaike Information Criterion (AIC), and likelihood ratio tests. Exposed to complex study design and extremely large amounts of data. ARIC is a 23-year longitudinal study with data collected over multiple visits for 13,000+ participants. Aided in the creation of figures, charts, and tables in R for neurocognitive research publications. Cleaned large databases. Compiled and presented database synopsis. Co-author on pending paper, “Smoking and 23-year Cognitive Change in ARIC Neurocognitive Study”.
