• Responsible for assessment and crisis counseling over the phone with clients.• Includes facilitating crisis intervention when necessary with mobile crisis teams and/or the police.• Included 40 hours of crisis training and 16 hours of ASIST (suicide prevention) training.

Parent/Child Support Group Volunteer:• Responsible for organizing play therapy activities for children ages 0-11.• Facilitate social activities to bring together mothers, children, and staff/social workers.• Creating an emotional and psychologically safe, secure, and supportive environment for mothers and children.Child Crisis Volunteer:• Responsible for working with children ages 0-6 whose parents are in crisis. • Providing a sense of normalcy during the child’s 72 hour stay with an emphasis in emotional and psychological safety and security.• Included crisis nursery training.

Classes completed include: developmental psychology, theories of personality, orientation to marriage and family therapy, counseling theory and technique, foundations of marriage and family therapy, psychopathology, statistics, eating disorders, couples and families in society, multicultural therapy, systemic interviewing skills, assessment of family and children, observational practicum, parenting, premarital counseling, couples therapy, ethics, assessment and treatment of children and adolescents, advanced family therapy, advanced couples therapy, assessment & treatment of sexual concerns, self of the therapist, and practicum
