Kelly Werthmann is an Emmy-winning journalist and currently the weekend evening anchor for CBS News Colorado.Since joining the CBS Colorado team in 2012, Kelly has served in a number of roles. From morning reporter to late-night storyteller, weekend morning anchor, even a brief stint as sports anchor, now weekend evening anchor — you name it, she’s happily done it!Her first few months in Denver turned out to be a turbulent time in Colorado’s history, with destructive wildfires and the mass shooting in an Aurora movie theater. Kelly provided coverage nationally and internationally for the theater tragedy, as well as the Waldo Canyon Fire in Colorado Springs which tore through her family's neighborhood. Almost one year to the day later, Kelly reported for CBS This Morning and CBS Evening News as the Black Forest Fire destroyed more than 500 homes. In 2013, Kelly traded early mornings for late nights to join the CBS News Colorado at 10 team and often served as a fill-in sports anchor. She helped cover Super Bowl 48 in New York and provided special coverage of Super Bowl 50 in California.In early 2020, CBS Colorado debuted its 24-hour streaming channel and Kelly shifted roles to be its first evening anchor. It quickly became a critical platform during the COVID-19 pandemic, and Kelly provided daily coverage that included live updates and interviews with health experts as well as local and state officials. Nearly 10 years into her journalism journey in Denver, Kelly returned to the “weekend warrior” team, and proudly serves as evening anchor.
