This 12-week clinical allowed me to independently evaluate and treat patients with mainly orthopedic conditions including post-op patients. The patient population included athletes, young adults, geriatric, runners, and middle-aged patients. During this clinical, I learned a patent pending Neuromuscular Facilitation Technique and was able to implement into patient care.

Greater St. Louis Area

On this 12-week internship I was able to independently evaluate and treat patients on the General Medicine floor of Barnes Jewish Hospital. Including multiple systems such as musculoskeletal, cardiac, pulmonary, neuromuscular, gastrointestinal, and immune systems. During this clinical I was able to also work and observe surgery, NICU, neuro ICU, cardiac unit, pulmonary unit, general ICU, trauma, and the oncology units. This allowed me to observe and learn PT's role in each specific unit and how necessary we are to patients and the acute care setting.

Assisted with cadaver dissections and taught/tested anatomy to 1st year DPT students. Also, assisted with grading all exams and assisting in giving the oral portion of lab exams.

Davenport Ia

This 5-week clinical in an outpatient setting allowed me to co-treat and evaluate patients with primarily orthopedic conditions. This clinic had about a 50/50 mixture of patients with surgical and non-surgical conditions. Occasionally, I was able to work with general weakness and balance patients. I was able to have a surgical observation day at this clinic where I was able to see multiple surgeries including a posterior-lateral knee reconstruction. At this clinic, I was able to successfully learn and implement modalities, such as iontophoresis, into treatment.
