As Associate Director of The Soil Inventory Project (TSIP), I leverage my research background in soil science and experience working with research teams to help transform regenerative agriculture through increased access to soil data. I lead our $20M USDA Climate Smart Commodities initiative and coordinate other partnerships across academia, government, and industry to achieve TSIP's goal of building a national soil carbon inventory.I draw on my research experience to guide our software development team in creating data-driven solutions for regenerative agriculture. I manage TSIP's distributed team of scientists and project managers, maintaining essential partnerships while ensuring projects meet ambitious deadlines. Through my parallel role as a staff scientist at Skidmore College, I mentor environmental science students in field work, laboratory analysis, and data science using R. Through TISP's research with local farms, I engage the next generation of environmental scientists with the interdisciplinary work required to transform agricultural systems.By combining my soil carbon cycling research background with project management and leadership, I help transform environmental data into actionable insights that support farmers in adopting sustainable agricultural practices.
