I am especially proud of the two and a half year effort to create and develop a group called “Mind Over Matter.” It is a motivational interviewing, psycho-education substance-focused group that has fourteen separate modules developed and practiced over several years. The manual is now used to teach residents, child fellows and medical students during their rotation on the adolescent psychiatry unit.

Provided once a week group therapy sessions at P.S.321. Students identified by their teachers or parents were referred to a weekly art therapy session. Each period represented a different grade level with 6 selected participants. Due to the stress of the Covid 19 and the irregularity of the school year, many students struggled with anxiety when returning.
