Whether it's putting my hands in 10°C seawater or reading up on new maritime policies, you will always find me focused on something happening in the ocean. I am a recent graduate of the marine affairs and marine biology (B.S.) departments at the University of Rhode Island. These interdisciplinary fields give me a broad understanding of both marine policy and ecosystems so that I am confident in understanding all aspects of the seas. While studying as a full-time student I was also employed as an undergraduate research assistant in an invertebrates lab and a BBNJ international marine policy study on campus. In the lab, my expertise falls in animal husbandry as I have helped care for small fish, oysters, and now green sea urchins. My skills have even earned me the title of “the fish whisperer” among my boss and colleagues. I push myself hard to expand my skills such as assisting to build a water flow through a system that heats water to climate change conditions and create experimental designs for projects. My friends, colleagues, and professors describe me as positive, hardworking, kind, and a strong leader. While balancing my classes, I also was involved in a campus club as the acting president of URI’s a cappella group Musically Inclined. I excelled in my classes based on marine and maritime policy, marine ecosystems, marine mammal and shark biology, and international policy.I am currently looking for a career that will further my goals to become a bridge between policy and science in the marine environment. My passion lies in strengthening conservation efforts at an international level and furthering scientific knowledge on new issues our planet is facing such as pollution and climate change. With this said I am open to many fields of interest and love to learn new things as often as I can.
