About Kelsey P. Norman, Ph.D.

I'm a Fellow for the Middle East at Rice University's Baker Institute for Public Policy and Director of the Women’s Rights, Human Rights & Refugees program. I also teach in the Master of Global Affairs program and the Department of Political Science at Rice University.My research and teaching focuses on refugee and migration issues in the Middle East and globally, as well as women’s rights, human rights, comparative political institutions, international relations, and Middle East and North African politics.My book, "Reluctant Reception: Refugees, Migration and Governance in the Middle East and North Africa," is available from Cambridge University Press.My writing has been published in academic journals as well as popular outlets including The Washington Post, Foreign Policy, Foreign Affairs and The Atlantic, and I have also given radio and television interviews related to my research. I hold a Ph.D. from the University of California, Irvine, a Master of Public Policy (M.P.P) degree from the University of Toronto, and a B.A. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
