I am currently a high school math teacher at Morton Ranch High School in Katy, TX. I have also successfully taught for 5 years serving our more underprivileged students in our community. I have a passion for student learning and achievement and I show this in my day to day teaching. My biggest passion is working with students who have experienced different types of traumas in their life and I have done a great deal of research into how to help these students feel and be successful. One of my many authors I gain knowledge from is Brene Brown. She has allowed me to think differently about our students with trauma and incorporate SEL (Social Emotional Learning) into my curriculum. Many of the students I teach have IEPs or 504s and have learning disabilities. I believe every student can learn and be successful, it simply takes different methods, resources, and strategies to help these students. It is a passion of mine to help each student and teacher be successful and have their “aha” moment and enjoy learning. I have led many PDs in my school on teaching students with learning disabilities and trauma. My future goals in my career are to be able to help other teachers develop their repertoire of different skills and strategies to help each student be successful through a more personalized approach and I have been working towards this goal for 10 years.
