At 3M via EASi, LLC, I am a chemist focused on quality assurance for pressurized medicated dose inhalers. I use analytical methods including HPLC/UPLC to quantify content and performance of inhalers. In the beginning of my employment, I worked with the formulation team to make inhalers for a critical study. My daily work involves highly detailed record keeping in accordance with GMP, as well as scrutinous review of electronic notebooks and official reports/documents that will be submitted to regulatory entities.

At Bio-techne, I was a protein purification specialist in operations. In my role, I used a vast array of types of column chromatography to isolate proteins for use in research and diagnostics. As a part of operations, I became adept at scaling and improving processes. I was the safety representative for my lab, informing/facilitating corporate safety policies and preparing for audits.

I assisted science-major students as an on-call tutor for Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Chemistry Organic Chemistry, and Microbiology. I frequently met with students with different learning styles and backgrounds, notably those with English as a second language.

I worked in Dr. Joanna Klein's lab for two years annotating hypothetical genes in Cellulophaga lytica using genomics and testing proposed functions of proteins in the lab. I incorporated lab techniques such as media preparation, bacterial cell culture, PCR, gel electrophoresis, transformation, SDS-PAGE, Congo Red functional assay, sequence analysis, column purification, plasmid isolation, biohazardous waste disposal, and sterile technique. During this time, I kept a lab notebook of experiments and presented research at numerous academic symposiums, winning awards at the Winchell Symposium in 2016. For the 2013-2014 academic year, I researched with Dr. Bruce Simat on the effects of electromagnetic radiation on the rate of mitosis of Danio rerio eggs.

As an RA, I coordinated events for a residence hall according to a budget, led volunteer events, led a weekly small group, and connected students with information on repairs, school policies, and school resources (counseling services, disabilities services, tutoring, clubs, ministries, etc.). I was trained in mental health awareness, including addictions, depression, self-affliction, and abuse, and came alongside residents who were facing such trials.

As a lab assistant, I set up and cleaned labs for organic chemistry and general chemistry. Setup involved preparing solutions, often requiring titration to determine concentration or pH. I also handled volatile chemicals and strong acids/bases.

During this summer position, I grew cell lines and ran assays (ELISA) to test product effectiveness in the Bioassay/QC department. I frequently performed extensive projects in Excel. I also performed inventory on cell lines (cryogenic storage) and chemicals, and thus maintained/updated those databases. Most notably, I performed flow cytometry in assistance to Dr. Angela Stoeckman.

As a program counselor, I advocated for nonverbal group-home residents. This involved providing specialized care for individuals with conditions such as epilepsy, cerebral palsy, autism, and varying degrees of MR. The position also required the administration of medications and treatments according to protocols. My daily documentation of health-related information was fit for legal review.

I greeted and guided event attendees to seats in Marantha Hall, accommodating individuals with mobile disabilities. I also directed traffic and crowds for events. Assisted a highlighted speaker with setting up, regulating audience size, and cleaning up after a series of lectures.
