The Blue Nile Jam Session is (a women run) monthly event that brings live music to residents of Crown Heights, Brownsville, and Bedstuy Brooklyn. We are proud to be funded by the Brooklyn Arts Council and sponsored by Stratosphere Studios and Funkadelic Studios.

Commissioned to create a multimedia work for the The Shed Open Call Program at The New Hudson Yards. This work was a music, theater, and visual arts piece called “Makadewiiyaasikwe,” which translates into “a black woman,” in the Ojibwe (Native American) language. Was creative and music director and successfully lead a team of two band members, one video artist, and one production assistant.

Facilitated poetry workshops at PS/MS 95 in the Bronx. One of the classes was poetry for ENL students. Was the lead teaching artist for the Ideas Box, a pop up media center for Bronx residents through DreamYard Project and Libraries Without Borders. Responsibilities included managing a team of interns, determining the location of the box, deciding the day to day activities and facilitating art workshops for community members.

Plans and facilitate weekly creative writing and spoken word poetry workshops for court involved youth at both secure and nonsecure detentions centers.

Worked directly under CEO, Ilana Martin, to advance the schools international presence. Duties include client hospitality (celebrity clientele included), appointment scheduling, website upkeep, blog post writing, and intern management.

Provide academic advisement and various support services to a caseload of high school students from the Harlem community.Successfully managed a larger than average caseload of 43 students.
