This class is an introduction into the world of start-ups. Through hands-on experiences and the semester-long formulation of a real start-up, students learn about ideation, problem statements, customer discovery and acquisition, finances, and how to pitch both themselves and their ideas.

• As an undergraduate Researcher I worked in a three-person team that designed, built, and tested a hub-based scaffolding system for domed emergency housing. The result was a set of 26 adaptable hubs that could be packed.
• Wrote grant proposal to the King Creativity Research Grant, and secured requested amount of funding, a total of $2,500
• Created a scale model of dome structure, constructed prototypes of different hubs, and ran a cost/complexity assessment of each hub type
• Finalized hub design and used equipment in the Southwestern University Physics Shop toconstruct 26 hubs and cut 65 galvanized steel struts to connect the hubs
• Created a conference poster and presented our work at both the King Creativity Symposium and the Creative Works Symposium
