CodePath.org is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit transforming computer science education for underrepresented minorities at over 50 colleges and universities, doubling in size every semester.Close to 80% of underrepresented minorities who start a CS degree will leave CS before graduating. For those that do graduate, most will have skill gaps making them likely to leave software engineering roles or spend their careers underestimated and underemployed. By working closely with major technology companies like Cognizant, Facebook, Microsoft, and Walmart, CodePath.org is changing CS programs nationwide to increase diversity in tech using a system-wide solution.

Lloyd is building software to improve career navigation through behavior science and accountability. Research shows that 80% of life defining decisions are made by age 35, and most earnings potential is established in our first decade or so of working. Yet, among those ages 18-29 only 26% of people feel they have “a career” (vs. a stepping stone or a job just to get by). Lloyd is here to make tailored career coaching accessible for everyone.I was Lloyd's first Copilot (Career Coach) hire and had the great fortune of working directly alongside the brilliant founders, Dan & Nikki, along with their lead engineer, to envision what a scalable and accessible career coaching platform might look like. While I left to pursue full-time with CodePath, I love what Lloyd is building!

Lambda School (now Bloomtech) is pioneering a new incentive-aligned model of higher education in which a student only pays a portion of their income after they find a high-paying job. ◆ Provided individualized career coaching to an incredibly diverse population of job-seekers transitioning into careers in technology ◆ Facilitated virtual, engaging workshops on a variety of topics related to career development◆ Collaborated directly with product, design, & engineering teams to provide user feedback for the creation of two tools used to store and manage student outcomes data ◆ Coordinated with multiple teams to document processes for the post-hired experience of students◆ Brainstormed and implemented solutions for increasing engagement and outcomes of Lambda School graduates in their job search through initiatives such as: peer support programming, Careers Home product requests, staff-wide office hours, community-building interventions, and streamlining outreach communications

◆ Provided students in the College of Business with career guidance tailored to their employment goals through one-on-one coaching and group presentations on topics related to resumes, interview preparation, career exploration, professional development, and marketable skills◆ Developed tailored workshops, resources, and programs for students in the College of Business and the international student population TAMUCC◆ Create and distribute bi-weekly email newsletters to College of Business and international student populations with targeted information, events, jobs, internships, and career-related tips◆ Coordinated recruiting events (site visits, employer panels, information sessions, on-campus interviewing, mock interview nights, networking nights) to connect students with employers◆ Coordinated informational events (alumni panels, employer panels, mock interview nights, site visits, and networking nights) to empower students in their career decision making◆ Spearheaded a partnership with the Bell Library to create a career resource "library" in the LibGuides section of the library's website that made Career Center resources accessible to all students (https://guides.library.tamucc.edu/career)

Coastal Compass supports the Corpus Christi community with free career development, job placement, and higher education resources.◆ Met one-on-one with walk-in clients to assist them with career development tasks and refer them to community resources relevant to their career and academic goals◆ Presented workshops on career development topics, including resumes, cover letters, and online job search strategies◆ Conducted follow-up outreach by phone on client outcomes, providing appropriate referrals for next steps when necessary

College Tracks is a nonprofit whose mission is to support the academic and personal development of students as they transition from high school to college & college to career, specifically first-generation students and under-served student populations. ◆ Provided wraparound support services related to academic advising, financial aid, and career planning to a caseload of first-generation, immigrant, and low-income students who were attending college within the DC/MA/VA area◆ Utilized a combination of programming, intensive one-on-one coaching, structured interventions, and targeted outreach to improve rates of enrollment, retention, and degree attainment◆ Monitored student progress by collecting detailed data on retention, graduation outcomes, and major selection and analyzing that data to inform future programming and resources
