- Through over 30 workshops and conferences, we assisted entrepreneurs in launching and growing their business, and we have supported non-profits in becoming social enterprises. - We helped launch Vancouver Island University's Business Plan Competition and Youth Aboriginal Entrepreneurship Program. Startup Nanaimo builds community partnerships with various organizations to provide entrepreneurs with the resources they need to be successful. - I focused on market research and business development for tech startups and strategic planning for social enterprises- Some of the projects included: focus groups and strategic planning for non-profits interested in incorporating aspects of a social enterprise business model into their current business model while maintaining status; strategic planning for a national association; competitor analyses for startups; market research on purchasing determinants for a provincial industry; and guiding a startup through the marketing planning process to develop a proposal.

I was responsible for business development, budgeting, forecasting, program development, social media management, communication strategy and development, annual report, and various administrative functions. I established a partnership with Vancouver Island University to connect and develop entrepreneurial students at VIU, and was the Startup Weekend Nanaimo Lead in April 2015. Within a year, I filled the SquareOne with 8 companies and 28 entrepreneurs, which resulted in 2 companies establishing seed funding within a year.SquareOne is an incubator and innovative co-work space that provides office space, expertise and resources to start-up entrepreneurs and other out of the box thinkers.
