In Winter 2018, I worked with NewHouse R&D on the DecaDomes® project for senior design purpose. DecaDomes® are structures that provide shelters at post-disaster sites and to the homeless populations. Since it is often used at locations under extreme conditions, NewHouse R&D wanted to make the assembly processes and packaging orientations as comprehensive as possible so that it can be used by global users. I was in a team of 4 to improve, standardize, and test the DecaDome® assembly process and… Show more In Winter 2018, I worked with NewHouse R&D on the DecaDomes® project for senior design purpose. DecaDomes® are structures that provide shelters at post-disaster sites and to the homeless populations. Since it is often used at locations under extreme conditions, NewHouse R&D wanted to make the assembly processes and packaging orientations as comprehensive as possible so that it can be used by global users. I was in a team of 4 to improve, standardize, and test the DecaDome® assembly process and packaging orientation to make it more scalable.Throught hands on building a DecaDome®, my team was able to gain a deep understanding of the assembly process which allowed us to develop the wordless instruction using 3D modeling. At the meantime, I focus on determining the most effective way of packing panels in domestic shipping container to maximize the amount of DecaDome® to be shipped in one shipment. For this project specifically, the founder of DecaDome® is donating three units to Haiti to provide housing to the disable children in St. Vincent Center and currently there is need for more. Considered the lack of funding, I established a social media fundraising campaign with the help of Mr. Lipson to reach our goal of $5,000 to cover the cost of shipping ten more units of DecaDome® to St. Vincent. As a result of standardizing the assembly processes and optimizing the packaging solution, we were able to improve the total assembly time by 60%. Before, it took us 2.5 hours to put together a DecaDome. Now, it can be built within an hour. We also reduced the shipping cost of one shipment of ten DecaDome® shelters by 16%. Show less

I asked alumni over phones to commit to higher education financially and in partnership with the Telefund team, we were responsible to raise in average over $2 million each year to support all units across all three UM campuses. Our team play a major role in fundraising for the Victors for Michigan campaign. The school was just announced to be the first public university ever to raise $5 billion in a fundraising campaign.
