SIL’s mentorship program offers the chance to students and early careers limnologists to be mentored by experienced scientists within the SIL international community that are willing to guide and advise them for up to three years (timeline to be agreed upon by the mentor and mentee based on their needs).The goals of the program are:• to support capacity building and knowledge transfer in developing countries.• to encourage and support limnology researchers.• to foster international collaborations and increase international networks.• to increase continual engagement within SIL members in order to foster a dynamic international community.The program is related to SIL’s mission of “promoting excellence in studying and managing inland waters and addressing global issues through the fostering of interdisciplinary approaches and the transfer of knowledge “, and especially to our strategic focus 1 and 4:• to foster and support international scientific networks of freshwater research.• to empower researchers of tomorrow and facilitate knowledge-transfer to promote limnology to a wider audience.

Projects Implementation and Management• Take the lead and ensure the timely and effective implementation of assigned projects, including designing, developing methodology, implementing or supervising the delivery of project activities with partners, developing strategic partnerships, reporting, capturing the impact and learning that arise from these activities, follow-up actions and other required administrative tasks.• Conduct other project management processes including project approval procedures.• Ensure transparency, ethical conduct, and efficiency in project implementation.• Undertake other tasks relevant to the project as determined by the CEO.Partnerships, Collaboration & linkages• Establish and maintain relationships with relevant project stakeholders including local government, the private sector, civil society representatives and, the donor; identify opportunities to collaborate with other organizations and leverage resources; and maintain smooth and regular communication internally and externally.• Take the lead in organization and participation in project events (meetings/workshops/training and others).Project monitoring and reporting• Timely prepare quarterly/bi-annual/annual technical reports; take the lead or provide technical inputs into the development of training and other documents.• Ensure monitoring and evaluation process for activities and interventions delivered through the assigned projects.Fundraising and proposal development• Support development of proposals as requested• Provide appropriate guidance and supervision so that project partners can develop qualified project proposals and budgets.

Through this fellowship, Emerging leaders, innovators, and practitioners from across Africa's food system can find a home at the African Food Fellowship. These are individuals driven by a desire to make a difference, a desire to take action, and an understanding of how to effect change. In order to change the policies, power, incentives, and investments required to reform food systems, the African Food Fellowship was created to support the development of a new generation of leaders throughout the continent of Africa.The goal of this 10-month Food Systems Leadership Programme, which is taught by technical mentors, leadership coaches, and systems-change specialists, is to;-Build one's network of food systems leaders across the continent.-Gain world-class knowledge of food systems.-Strengthen skills to lead systems change.The final outcome is graduation from the African Food Fellowship and membership in a long-lasting, professional association of change-makers.

• Serve as a liaison between Climate Action and Sustainable Living Working Group Members and the Bridging TheGap team.• Professionally collaborate and communicate with fellow Leaders of Climate Action and Sustainable Living Working Group.• Lead Working Group meetings.• Provide updates on progress and identify any obstacles to the Bridging TheGap team (i.e. meetings with the Bridging TheGap team, two-way communications).• Be responsible for ensuring your Climate Action and Sustainable Living Working Group meets deadlines set by the Bridging TheGap team.• Facilitate discussions around key issues for Climate Action and Sustainable Living Working Group and ways to take action.• Spearhead the creation of the policy recommendations for Climate Action and Sustainable Living section of the 2022 Youth Delegate Communiqué.

These may include quarterly divisional, inter-program, flagship initiatives, and topical discussion meetings.• Support in the management of projects/programs and fundraising efforts for conservation initiatives.• Support in other general duties delegated by the Head of Conservation• Supporting in monitoring and managing funded portfolio of species projects: Liben Lark in Ethiopia, White-winged Flufftail in South Africa, Lilian’s Lovebird in Malawi, Spotted Ground Thrush in Malawi, etc.• Supporting in driving of efforts and discussions to plan and raise resources for sustaining conservation actions for priority species e.g., Liben Lark, Long-billed Forest Warbler, Djibouti Francolin• Support collation of information to assess Birdlife partnership impact and gaps in conservation of priority bird species/groups in Africa, and partner support needs.

• Played a critical role in developing detailed research plan and ensuring quality data and information is available to support quarterly, mid-term and end year reviews of the livelihoods of Magutu Ward residents. • worked closely with the field officers to provide technical leadership in the documentation of the research study. • Took charge in implementing and ensuring field officers’ compliance with all applications and systems such as activities, output, outcome, and budget monitoring. • Offered Administrative and logistical assistance to the project where I was particularly involved in coordinating data collection using GPS and questionnaires. • Ensured regular and timely updates of data collection and participated in both qualitative and quantitative data analysis, report writing and dissemination of key findings. • Supervised and trained field officers on research skills including data collection, data management and report writing.
