My name is Kelvin Bencosme-Espejo, I am an Intern at The United States House of Representatives, Committee on Energy and Commerce (E&C). I originate from Queens, New York, but was raised in Miami, Florida. I am the youngest of two immigrant public servants whose strong moral values have bolstered my commitment to serving the American people. Kelvin participated in the Fall 2023 Global Leaders Fellowship for the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI). Kelvin worked as a Legislative Intern for the office of Vern Buchanan (R-FL) and a Policy Analyst Intern for Ferox Strategies. Kelvin's experience working on Capitol Hill and his exposure to the lobbying aspect of Congress has provided him with a unique set of experiences. Kelvin remains proud and thankful as he continues to work tirelessly to conclude his final semester as an FIU Hamilton Scholar and an Intern for the Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee.Kelvin’s parents always highlighted the importance of helping others and leading responsibly. Kelvin’s mother particularly served as an incredible mentor and leader throughout his life, and he mentions that he would not be here today without her guidance and experience. Kelvin has high ambitions as he embarks on his graduation date. Kelvin passionately seeks to continue working in Congress and making a positive impact. “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts”.
