Managed the transition of technology out of the Metisq business and into Challenger Limited.

Metisq Capital is a funds management organisation specialising in the management of Global, Australian, Asian and China equity portfolios for institutional clients. Responsibility for the management of all business services supported by technology infrastructure and all related infrastructure service providers. Managed growth from a single office to four offices in three countries. Responsibility for the management of all technology service providers and of all production systems and the ongoing maintenance upgrades of these systems. Co-managed development of internal software and applications. These applications are dealing tools which implemented complex business logic to aid in decision making by the dealing team. Responsibility for communication to key internal / external stakeholders which includes extensive liaison with CEO/CIO and third party service providers.Managed the IT processes relating to the outsourcing of Fund Administration, transitioning of Fund Administrators and middle/back office service providers. This task included working with multiple service providers to ensure a smooth transition, improve services for our investors and reduce costs. Managed the IT process of on-boarding Clients which involved configuring internal systems, development of reporting requirements, and reviewing all legal documentation with external counterparties.Responsible for managing successive Internal Controls Audits for Metisq (GS007 audits). This task included a full review of IT controls, gap analysis and audit preparation. Developed and drove continuous improvements to further streamline operations.

Initiated identification of ideas for implementing a quantitative only investment process, the testing of those and other ideas using rigorous research methods and their implementation into low latency trade execution engine. Investing in the Australian markets.

From 2005, The key demand of this role was to maintain operational stability and performance whilst implementing a large number of regular system changes, increasing functionality and extending the user base from 300 to almost 25,000 Bank employees.Operationally responsible for the biggest IT project that the Commonwealth Bank was undertaking as well as the biggest .NET development anywhere at the time - CommSee.Built an operational team which used the experiences of CommSec to quickly re-design the infrastructure and operational environment. By combining real-time monitoring, alerting and performance analysis, we have been able to succeed in achieving high levels of system stability at the same time as implementing huge amounts of change. Worked with multiple vendors such as Intel, Microsoft and Compaq to re-architect a traditional Sun/Oracle Risk Management application to run on commodity level hardware, providing significant opex savings and better performance.Manager of an infrastructure services team that consults, implements and supports infrastructure related projects. The team consisted of 5 permanent staff as well as 3 contractors. I reported to e-commerce solutions General Manager, Sydney and was a member of the Sydney Management team.Conducted technical analysis as part of the due diligence team.Ultimately responsible for the day-to-day (24*7) running of the Commonwealth Securities (Commsec) Website and trading systems. Responsible for broad range of technology systems from live data feeds (including feeds into channel 10 for stock reports and news broadcasts) to voice recognition broking systems. Implementation of best practice systems management through the adoption of ITIL.Implemented Australia's first global server load balancing environment utilising Nortel Networks technology. Worked with Ernst and Young on System and Internet security including attack and penetration tests, threat and vulnerability studies as well as security infrastructure review.Received Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) certification for a straight through processing system developed in VB and MSSQL and implemented by IT&e.Significantly increased the reliability of CommSec’s website by completely re-architecting the system. This has been used as a case study for Microsoft and mentioned by John Connors during analyst briefing in Redmond, USA 2001. This project involved the development of high performance C components, VB modules, MS SQL backend as well as a holistic ground up approach to the adoption of middleware components such as TIBCO rendezvous.

Selected by consulting company Bain and Co, to work on the Woolworth's E-commerce 'Quick wins'​ project. Project was initiated to demonstrate to investors that a traditional retailer could execute E-commerce initiatives quickly and effectively. Project team consisted of CIO Steve Bradley, External consultant Jane McKellar, Senior e-commerce strategist and e-business manager.Redesigned the web infrastructure for Woolworth's Homeshop and provided technical 24*7 support. Main re-development work in PL\​SQL and ASP.
