The Qing Fong Lion Dance Team is a non-for-profit community organisation which aims to bring young people together to learn the Chinese cultural tradition of lion dancing. By performing at community events, weddings and corporate functions, our team’s mission is to promote the art and culture of Chinese lion dancing to the wider community.By successfully negotiating a $20,000 sponsorship agreement with a local organisation, I was able to establish the team. Now with over 50 students and 40 clients including Salesforce, Bunnings Warehouse and the University of Sydney, I coordinate and choreograph our performances in locations across Sydney.Gaining over 2,000 followers on our Instagram page and 500 likes on our Facebook page in one year, social media marketing was effectively utilised to engage the community and acquire clients: @qingfong.ldt

I am responsible for providing direct support to a State Member of Parliament in their electorate office. I have developed a high degree of oral and written communication through liaising with community organisations to coordinate local events, writing correspondences to government ministers, and providing critical face-to-face assistance to constituents with extensive matters. I enjoy the autonomy and flexibility in this role as it has provided me the opportunity to ideate and lead various campaigns and community engagement initiatives. I have an extensive understanding on the role of the three levels of government, and I have a deep interest about how changes to government policies can influence businesses.

Being a personal trainer has offered me the opportunity to pursue my passion in health and fitness. Leaving the comfort of a stable job to run my own personal training business, I developed strong sales and marketing skills. This is demonstrated in my first month of operation where I called over 120 leads, booked over 80 personal training consultations and secured over 30 consistent sessions per week, experiencing rapid growth in my business. I gained over 2,000 followers on my Instagram page where I produce digital content related to health and fitness: @kelvintrains_Through working closely with clients to support their journey in health and fitness, I have developed a greater understanding of relationship development and management. I understand the importance of active listening and personalising programs and solutions to suit my clients’ specific needs. For every client, I provide a tailored training program, personalised diet advice and conduct 1-on-1 training sessions at our training facility. I check-in with my clients weekly through our sessions and through phone calls and messaging, supporting them to my greatest ability. I believe that staying healthy should be a lifestyle, not just a scheduled gym session in your calendar.

The Daily Hustle Apparel was founded in my final year of high school under the mission to inspire young individuals to never give up. It was platform to promote the idea of pushing boundaries and exceeding expectations, regardless of cultural background, academic marks and upbringing. As my first business venture, I quickly developed a deep understanding of business operations. This experience also expanded my knowledge of crucial business skills including financial literacy, sales, accounting and market research. I also developed an appreciation for rapid change and adaptation, creativity and innovation in running a business, particularly in the design of products, generating leads, acquiring sales and successful marketing.

I am responsible for driving and implementing marketing initiatives including search engine optimisation and social media marketing. Collectively with the team at Bloomingdales Lighting, we have developed and implemented various business strategies to place the firm in a unique ‘Wholesale+’ position in the industry. I connect these strategies with marketing initiatives to increase leads, conversions, and improve branding.

I inspire students to undertake their tertiary studies at the University of Sydney through effective oral communication. I provide students with my personal experiences and critical information about the University to ensure that they are able to make an informed decision about where to undertake their studies. I place large emphasis on first listening about what the student is looking to pursue, and I provide honest and impartial information. I specialise in alternative pathways into university, working predominantly with students from low socio-economic backgrounds and of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent. I speak at various events including school visits and conferences, utilising my effective communication and community engagement skills.

I lead a diverse team of volunteers to host an annual community fundraising event. I work with range of sub-committees including logistics, sponsorships and community outreach to organise the event, demonstrating strong people management skills. By employing effective community engagement strategies, and running various marketing campaigns, our team was able to acquire corporate and community donations totalling over $120,000 in fundraising in 2018.By restructuring our team to enhance creative and innovative thinking, we were able to ideate and pioneer a globally-recognised solution to address poor community engagement, winning regional and international awards for:- Highest Percentage of Fundraising Growth in NSW.- Highest Percentage of Participation Growth in NSW.- Global Spirit of Relay Award for Best Student Event.“Relay For Life is a global movement that brings communities together to celebrate cancer survivorship, remember loved ones lost and fight back against cancer.”

Motivated by my passion of driving positive change in my community, I undertook a six-week internship to develop a greater understanding of the non-for-profit sector. Working on various campaigns such as the 7 Bridges Walk and Daffodil Day, I undertook various responsibilities in liaising and communicating with key stakeholders and benefactors to increase their engagement in our fundraising events. Working at the Cancer Council NSW Head Office, I was exposed to all sectors of the organisation, helping me broaden my knowledge on business operations, particularly in the non-for-profit sector.

As the Entertainment Coordinator, I organised and managed entertainment acts on the stage during the 2016 & 2017 Fairfield Relay for Life. I liaised with local dance crews, community organisations and cultural groups to develop their engagement and participation in our event.
