Since 2003, I have been involved in end-to-end core technology and data management systems’ design, development, and implementation. I also had hands on experience on data science, software development, as well as system design, IT operations setup, security, and monitoring. For the last couple of years, focused on implementing and operating of similar workstreams in cloud ecosystem. Cloud systems changed my mindset of operating and collaborating by using common repositories, microservices, automatic implementation and deployment pipelines. I had also chance to spot inefficiencies and processes which increase the costs on cloud systems particularly if you have vast number of development, implementation, and deployment teams. People need to be well equipped to be able to efficiently design and manage each cloud component for taking the excessive costs under control and properly automatize systems without risking the promised client delivery. Besides the technology, human resources principles have dramatically changed almost all steps like recruitment, retention, and inspiration of cloud native people. New generation managers aren’t more than a team member who provides better vision, scopes the work in manageable task items and inspires the others. In Kantar Media, I am responsible for the implementation of global products into local markets. I enjoy working with a high capability data and research-oriented team in Kantar. All team members working hard to have clear understanding of customer needs for finding the best possible solutions preferably using the global tools, methodologies, and best practices. Sometimes patches are applied locally while waiting the product teams handle the client requirements. We are trying to understand the unmet client needs as much as possible and working with operational teams to apply long lasting solutions. Audience measurement is evolved from panel-based research to a very specious interdisciplinary domain. Operations need to have reasonable understanding of big data analysis, cloud technologies, system monitoring, security, software development, user acceptance tests, data science, BI and visualization. On this respects, Netherlands NMO project has been a good experience for me on transformation from legacy bear metal systems and old-style operations management philosophy to new generation cloud technologies and agile teams.
