When I tell people I work in AI, I see both reluctant and curious reactions. I get it--the pace of this new technology is unprecedented. In spite of this, never before have we seen the ability of a technology to bolster quality of life like AI has. As a researcher, author, and advocate of explainable and ethical AI, I work with the understanding that this technology is a tool that can afford new capabilities just as the adoption of computers once had. Joining The Philadelphia Inquirer, I intend to aid the traversal of media through inclusion of AI as a tool. Only through intentional and mindful use of new technologies can the effect be a positive and equitable touch on peoples lives.
