Ken Applegate is a Director of Human Resources at Southern Ohio Medical Center. Colleagues describe them as "I can't say enough about Ken Applegate as I worked with him for 11 years with the United Way of Scioto County. He was on the United Way Board of Trustees then during his term as Board President he was the key person responsible for recommending my promotion to the Executive Director's position. I was extremely fortunate to be acquainted with Ken as he helped me sharpen my skills as the executive director and most importantly as a professional leader in our community. Ken not only served as our Board President for 2 terms, he also served as the chairman for various other United Way committees such as the Campaign, Allocation, Helping Hands, Nomination, Policy Review, By-Laws and Constitution, Volunteer Recruitment, Personnel and the Executive Committee. He was also the In-house Chairman for the United Way's fundraising drive at his employment at Southern Ohio Medical Center, which was one of the leading United Way contributors through their corporate and employee drive. I valued not only his expertise, guidance and principals but I can honestly say he was one of the most devoted, unselfish individuals that I met while with United Way. He not only became my mentor but he brought a level of leadership to our agency that was extremely important and I can confidentially say because of Ken's years of commitment to the United Way of Scioto County he without a doubt made a huge impact on meeting the needs of our community."
