Senior Consultant with FernLeaf, LLC, an Asheville, NC climate technology and consulting firm focusing on the development and utilization of decision support tools for local and regional governments. My work for Fernleaf has focussed on evaluating climate vulnerabilities and developing adaption and community resilience response actions. I have been involved in the development of several climate adaptation programs including those for Norfolk, VA, Tallahassee, FL and Charleston, SC. and am and active in the American Society of Adaptation Professionals (ASAP) through which I have developed a strong network of climate adaptation professionals at all levels of government as well as private practitioner partners. I am currently managing several projects with regional transportation planning organizations developing enhanced tools and methodology for integrating equity into the resilience project selection and prioritization process for regional and state level transportation plans. Prior to joining Fernleaf Interactive, I was the Climate Adaptation and Community Resilience Practice Coordinator for a national engineering firm focusing on the growth of a practice evaluating flood related vulnerabilities and response plans for coastal communities. During this time I led a group of planners and engineers that assisted a consulting team win $115M for the City of Norfolk under the 2015 HUD National Disaster Resilience Competition and a $5M grant to fund a Climate Resilience Business Accelerator (RISE) in Norfolk, VA. I have an extensive background in environmental consulting which has been a strong platform for his involvement in climate resilience. His professional environmental consultant practice spans over 38 years of experience building and managing interdisciplinary staffs of environmental professionals focused on providing environmental support to municipalities and state agencies for facilities planning, construction and operations. My past practice areas have included natural resources permitting, water resources planning, contaminant assessment and remediation, and NEPA documentation. Much of my career has been working in interdisciplinary team settings. A strong technical knowledge base, and a record of effective business growth and development, profitable project management, superior client service and commitment to environmental excellence have been the hallmarks of my career.
