Ken Durst has been fixing things since he was a kid. Growing up on a small farm in rural Wisconsin, he had to be handy with a tool box. After graduating from college, Ken worked as an auto mechanic for a number of years until a better opportunity came knocking. Ken packed up the family and they moved to Madison, where he started work as the primary Field Service Tech for a small supplier of industrial packaging solutions. Fast-forward 25 years and Ken is still in the business, having built up his good reputation and client base one broken machine at a time. Three years ago, Ken decided to strike out on his own and it was one of the best decisions he ever made. His clients know him to be honest, straightforward and true to his word, which is why they have stuck with him and have helped him expand his business faster than he had imagined. Ken Durst LLC has grown from offering preventative maintenance and field service to adding selling new equipment to his list of services. And it’s becoming a family affair. Ken’s youngest son, Ryan, has joined the company and is successfully learning the trade and following in his Dad’s footsteps, one sewing machine head at a time.
