PROFILE: KEN IKE OKEREKen Ike Okere is savvy at several things. Many people know him as a serial entrepreneur who founded several successful enterprises and non- governmental organizations; others know him as a journalist, editor and media manager; the literati know him as the Slam Master, the consummate literary event’s organizer who co-founded the famous Abuja Literary Society, the Eko Literary Society, and the Enugu Literary Society and who has helped nurture and promote hundreds of budding literary artists; yet others know him as poet and writer whose books (The River Died; and, Spirit Walk) have won critical acclaim; still others know him as the consummate corporate communications specialist who was the first head of Radio Nigeria’s strategy and communications department; and then Director of FRCN's Lagos operations, supervising three brands: Metro 97.7 FM, BOND 92.9 FM, Radio One 103.5FM. In 2021, Ike completed his tenure as Zonal Director, FRCN South East Zone, where he supervised Radio Nigeria’s 7 brands in 5 states. Then he became Director National Broadcast Academy (NBA). With a Ph.D. in Mass Communication and 20+ years of professional experience in radio, TV, print and online/digital media, Dr. Okere is a highly sought-after media trainer and project lead and has consulted for: BBC MediaAction, Christian Aid, Ford Foundation and the US Consulate General Lagos, amongst others. Ike is currently Rector of the West Africa Broadcast & Media Academy (WABMA).
