I am responsible for the coordination of construction activities for assigned areas of pipeline projects in support of the Manager of Construction. My overall responsibility is to mentor and coordinate the various teams present in the field including Field Engineering, Field Administration, Construction Survey, Field Inspection and Safety Professionals. I lead and assist with the implementation of Construction Management Processes and Procedures (i.e.: Inspection Procedures, Quality Assurance Programs, Cost, Schedule and Productivity Planning and Assessments/Reports, Materials Management Programs, EH & S Practices and requirements, etc.). My People Leading responsibilities include, but are not limited to: management of resources, workforce planning, employee and contractor recruitment, staff retention, compensation planning, career coaching, ensuring adherence by direct reports to company policies, performance management and individual development plans and employee relations. I work with and provide reports for the Construction Manager as required to ensure timely and accurate monthly reporting in regards to contractor deliverables (scope, schedule, quality, cost and safety). I am responsible to ensure that all work performed by the contractor is done in a safe, environmentally acceptable fashion and in accordance with approved design and quality standard. I am responsible to Identify, analyze, understand, manage and communicate risks to all members of the Construction and Engineering Teams.

I was responsible for the Management of fluid services and logistics for the South-Western Saskatchewan and South Eastern Alberta Areas. Business segments included KCL blending, KCL and Water Hauling and Production Hauling (emulsion and condensate). In this position, I was responsible for overseeing the entire Operating Area and providing management expertise to all staff to ensure compliance with Vertex processes and systems. My duties included project management, financial forecasting and budgeting, champion the compliance with hours of service and fatigue management, risk assessment and reduction, resource management, business development, relationship management, estimating/tendering, personnel recruiting and management, development of processes and systems, preparing for and chairing operation meetings and leading our team to being the best in the industry.

I was responsible for all facilities construction and pipeline construction for the southern Alberta and Southern Saskatchewan areas. I was also responsible for our fabrication facility that services the entire provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan. In this position I was responsible for overseeing the entire Operating Area and providing management expertise to all staff to ensure compliance with Revcon processes and systems. My duties included project management, financial planning and budgeting, risk assessment and reduction, resource management, business development, relationship management, estimating/tendering and preparation of tender packages, pre-qualification preparation, personnel recruiting and management, development and management of processes and systems, preparing for and chairing operation meetings and leading a team to safety and operational excellence.

I was responsible for the Management of all facilities construction, pipeline construction, electrical and instrumentation, fluid haul services, rig moving services and tubular management in Southern Alberta. In this position I was responsible for overseeing the entire Operating Area and providing management expertise to Operations Managers and functional support to ensure compliance with processes and systems. My duties included but were not limited to preparing and managing financial budgets, planning and managing resources, developing and maintaining relationships with clients, actively pursuing new business opportunities, managing employees financial compensation, managing asset utilization, managing DSO’s and corporate reporting.

I was responsible for the Management of all facilities, pipeline and electrical and instrumentation construction in South Eastern Alberta, Southern Saskatchewan, and South Western Manitoba. In this position I was responsible for overseeing numerous Operations Centers and providing management expertise to all staff to ensure compliance with processes and systems. My duties included but were not limited to preparing and managing financial budgets, planning and managing resources, coordinating day to day operational activities, developing and maintaining relationships with clients, actively pursuing new business opportunities, managing financial compensation within the business unit, effectively resolving disputes / issues within the business units, addressing client concerns and ensuring timely and accurate invoicing and resolution of invoicing issues.

I was responsible for the Management of all pipeline construction in South Eastern Alberta and South Western Saskatchewan. In this position I was responsible for m anaging projects to achieve the project objectives and deliverables, planning, organizing and controlling of the projects to meet acceptable safety, quality, cost and schedule performance, work with the Project Superintendents to ensure high quality results in execution and delivery, Serve as the direct interface with the Client’s Representative’s, perform and support estimating and scheduling, work with Superintendent to conduct constructability and resource planning, plan and manage resources, support new business opportunities and support the maintenance of existing client relationships, proactively address client concerns, regularly update direct reports with project status, generate and distribute required project reports, understand and comply with all relevant administration requirements, and ensuring timely close-out of all projects.

I was responsible for the Management of all pipeline construction, facility construction and electrical & instrumentation work for Imperial Oil Resources in the Cold Lake area. In this position I was responsible for managing projects to achieve the project objectives and deliverables, planning, organizing and controlling of the projects to meet acceptable safety, quality, cost and schedule performance, work with the General Foreman to ensure high quality results in execution delivery, serve as a single point of contact for the Client’s Construction Manager, perform and support estimating and scheduling, work with General Foreman to conduct constructability and resource planning, plan and manage resources, support new business opportunities and help maintain existing client base, proactively address client concerns, regularly update direct reports with project status, generate and distribute required project reports, understand and comply with all relevant administration requirements, and ensuring timely close-out of all projects.

I was responsible for the Management of all above ground and below ground pipeline construction for Imperial Oil Resources in the Cold Lake area. In this position I was responsible for providing coordination and supervision of multi-skilled work crews, effective planning and execution of projects, providing support to ensure quality workmanship resulting in a high degree of customer satisfaction, serving as the main daily contact person for client representatives, coordinating construction activities to ensure compliance with Flint’s policies and procedures, planning, organizing and directing Flint personnel and subcontractors, providing input in the planning stages to determine critical project paths, sourcing and aligning resources, scheduling and estimating, conducting constructability and resource planning reviews, aligning crews with adequate supervision to accomplish tasks in a safe and effective manner, identifying and mitigating specific safety hazards, communicating financial status of projects, coaching and mentoring foreman and work crews, providing technical support for foreman and work crews, producing time tickets and work orders for payroll, performing task- specific job planning and coordination, conducting daily tailgate meetings, task hazard assessments, permit requests and other safety management system site requirements, ensuring material and supplies are available as required, supporting Superintendent in project performance reporting, applying Flint’s QA/QC programs, and executing work in a manner that meets project deliverables.

I was responsible for the Management of pipeline and facility construction throughout the province of Alberta. In this position I was responsible for managing all aspects of the projects. Being that the projects were most often in isolated areas, support resources were limited so all deliverables were required to be coordinated locally. I was responsible to ensure that all projects were managed to the highest standard in Safety, Quality, Cost and Schedule. I was also responsible for ensuring that all required reports were submitted in a timely manner both internally and externally, ensuring effective planning and execution of projects, serving as the main daily contact for numerous clients, planning, organizing and directing personnel and subcontractors, providing input in the planning stages to determine critical project paths, sourcing and aligning resources, scheduling and estimating, aligning crews with adequate supervision to accomplish tasks in a safe and effective manner, identifying and mitigating specific safety hazards, coaching and mentoring foreman and work crews, providing technical support for foreman and work crews, performing task-specific job planning and coordination, conducting daily tailgate meetings, ensuring material and supplies are available as required, and executing work in a manner to ensure a successful project close out.

During this time I worked for numerous companies throughout Western Canada in the oil and gas sector. I believe that my hard work, positive attitude and dedication led the way to my successful career. I started as a labourer in 1985 and worked my way up to being a Project Superintendent in 1996. During this time I also held the positions of lead hand, non ticketed tradesman, welders helper, swamper, heavy equipment operator, foreman and assistant superintendent.
