About Ken Morrison

Ken is passionate about the future of our cities and is an experienced leader of high-impact, for-purpose organisations operating within complex environments. He is the CEO of the Bradfield Development Authority, responsible for delivering the new Bradfield City Centre and attracting investment to the Western Sydney Aerotropolis.Together these are the largest city-building projects in Australia, leveraging the more than $20 billion of investment now underway in the new Western Sydney International Airport, new Sydney Metro West and major road infrastructure upgrades. Bradfield City Centre spans 114 hectares and is the first new city to be built in Australia for over 100 years. It will be a mixed-use city centre with a staged framework to provide 20,000 jobs and 10,000 new homes in a unique walkable parkland city for residents, workers and visitors.Bradfield Development Authority was established as an initiative of the multi-government Western Sydney City Deal.As CEO I am also a member of the Executive Leadership Team of the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.

Metropolitan Memorial Parks celebrates life by creating by creating remarkable places to reflect, connect and remember. It is a government business entity which provides interment services to the community within a contested marketplace. It is responsible for over 400 hectares of cemetery space on crown land across eight sites in Sydney and Newcastle, employs around 300 staff, has an annual turnover of $86 million and net assets worth $660 million.Metropolitan Memorial Parks is working closely with the NSW Government on the urgent need to create new burial supply for the community as our existing historic memorial parks approach exhaustion.

As Administrator I stood in the place of a Board and in the absence of a CEO I also performed these duties.During my term as Administrator we achieved the following substantial outcomes: - merged three entities to create a single new organisation under a new brand - worked with Government to provide the organisation with a refreshed strategic mandate - provided Government with a comprehensive review of existing cemetery exhaustion horizons and recommended a roadmap of short- and long-term actions to address Sydney's chronic shortage of cemetery space, a blueprint which has overwhelmingly been adopted by Government - confirmed that the organisation's perpetual maintenance obligations are in fact fully funded by our investment funds - adopted modern risk, compliance and probity frameworks, addressing key weaknesses identified in an earlier Independent Governance Health Check - reset working relationships with key partners across government and established strong stakeholder relations with key groups vital for the organisation's future success - supported the process for appointing the inaugural Board - commenced a CEO search process, timed such that the new Board would make the final appointment decision - strengthened and streamlined our Executive team - introduced more contemporary governance processes and professionalised management decision making - created a transition business plan and ensured its implementation.
