Is obsession a good thing? I’ll let you decide.I’m obsessed with creating engaging, human-centred experiences using technology & design. Why? To improve performance and drive results. It’s a huge part of who I am and how I think. It’s ingrained in me.As a child, I used to take things apart. I wanted to learn how the world around me worked. I wanted to see if I could figure out a more user-friendly design for everything. My parents generally considered this a positive learning experience... except for the time I converted my father’s stereo into a motion-activated alarm system. But what can I say, I was determined to keep my siblings out of my room. That childhood curiosity and desire to innovate has stayed with me, and for over 5 years, I had the privilege of working at The Hospital for Sick Children - a world-renowned paediatric hospital based in Toronto. While I was there, I saw a need. Medical staff needed (and wanted) to be by the child’s bedside more often, but were continually pulled in multiple directions; especially when looking for answers. They needed in-the-moment, step-by-step guidance on how to use new technology, perform updated procedures, or apply new policies. I looked at these needs and decided to create an app to help. The technology was widely accepted which was great, but what mattered to me most was the fact that as a result of our work, children’s health was measurably improved.I have always believed in doing work which creates real, meaningful impact. And the experience I've had in healthcare - and the pride I felt knowing something I created made a real difference in someone's life is what drives me to support healthcare professionals and patients on a wider scale.Do you share this passion? I’d love to hear from you. Thanks for stopping by,Ken
