Over 3 decades of Information Technology experience with the last 23 years in the HR Services space, Ken is currently the Tech Engagement Manager for Alight’s largest, most challenging client. Drawing on his depth of IT experience, he provides client facing representation across towers of services (i.e., Benefits, Payroll, Vendor applications, and ancillary shared service applications). Ken has managed remote onshore and offshore project resources and their utilization, juggled competing interests, conducted requirement gathering meetings, designed data models, designed process solutions, and has handled front line situation management for product support. Ken has served on teams designated to assess and rescue large scale projects in trouble. Clients are comforted his ability to relate to their needs, and projects stay focused due to Ken’s grasp of application “big picture”, and his ability to drill into problem areas and isolate issues in a way that can be summarized in presentation form.

Sr. Systems EngineerEds Group Apr 1999 - Jan 2000UsWorldcom spun off the legacy MCI Systemhouse division in whole to EDS.Work efforts under EDS were unchanged from that of Worldcom; except that during this time, I traveled to Plano, Texas for a six week Project Management course. -

Systems AnalystMci Systemhouse Sep 1995 - Sep 1998UsIn continued employment from IMS... where I took ownership of the central heartbeat of the application, “release” of product to the merchants; A COBOL II batch program that was 13,000 lines of code, with an additional 8,000 lines of called modules. It read like a chapter book (easy for Mattel IT to learn) and performed in 20 minutes what the previous version took 24 hours to process. Subsequently, I was responsible for testing batch processes, supporting Mattel IS to learn and pick up the batch process, and assist in coding changes needed for production. After implementation, I designed and coded PowerBuilder screens for the Customer Shipment Status portion of the application. When the system went live, my role included front line support for all batch processes. -
It ConsultantIms Consulting Jan 1995 - Sep 1995Joined a 50+ IT Project Team to develop a product for the Mattel cleint at the beginning of development of the batch processes. Was responsible for the development and coding of the core batch programs central to inventory releasing, back orders, returns, and cancellation functions. This encompassed two of the four major functions that make up the core processing of the application. Batch programs were developed using COBOL II/DB2. Also developed several RSP (Remote Stored Procedures) in CICS/DB2 using COBOL II as needed to keep PowerBuilder screen performance up. The dedication to smooth and accurate high performance designs paid off at Mattel with record batch inventory releases processes within 20 minutes rather than prior products all night run.

Systems AnalystGte May 1987 - Jul 1994UsFacilities Inventory Management System:This was an Inventory and design application for telephone networks that I designed and wrote from the ground up. It tracks circuit assignments and equipment assignments within central offices and outside plant. The application enables engineers to design high capacity circuits from end to end, assign equipment and wire, distribute plans to technicians, and provides inventory information to interfacing applications. FIMS is a COBOL application using both DB2 and CICS. It has over 50 screens, 30 batch programs, and 65 DB2 tables. I was the technical architect for the application from the inception. Eight months later, I became the project leader and remained in that position through the completion of three phases of development. I led a group of 5 employees. I designed the data model. I created prototypes for the users, did the analysis, problem solving, and led UAT.Electronic Mail Distribution System:As a cost savings effort, I created a PC based electronic mail distribution system using local file servers. The application was written in Quick Basic.Facilities Analysis and Costing System Interfaces:Responsible for the gather of data to load the GTE Corporate Facility Analysis and Costing System (FACS). GTE Corporate plan was to load FACS with CNAS data. But, GTE California opted out of CNAS many years prior due to its inability to perform California specific functions. I assisted in the specification designs to gather data from seven GTE California local applications in order to load the data into FACS. I wrote nearly all programs, standard COBOL batch, to load the data. End job was 169 steps with a total of 50 COBOL programs (whereas, the remainder were utilities). I also set up the communications between the IBM Mainframe (where 6 of 7 of the applications were hosted) and the HP via the RJE lines to transmit data. Due to the nature of FACS, this job was run monthly for clean rate case studies. -
ProgrammerTransamerica Jul 1986 - May 1987Baltimore, Maryland, UsResponsible for maintaining COBOL and SCOBOL programs and associated files used to assess mobile home insurance rates. I interfaced daily with testers in Atlanta. The application was hosted on a Tandem machine. To automate and streamline testing, I created automated regression testing scripts to ensure rate changes for individual states did not have global impacts.
